Wentworth Falls, Katoomba

#2 of 14 in Parks in Katoomba
Situated within the Blue Mountains World Heritage National Park, Wentworth Falls is the largest waterfall in the region, featuring two drops. The waterfall is near several aboriginal sites estimated at being around 20,000 years old. A lake formed by the cascading waterfall is a popular picnic spot, located just a short walk from the nearby village. You can swim or join the Darwin's Walk tour, named after Charles Darwin, who visited and researched the area. Be prepared for a lot of steps on the various walks offered, which can take you to the waterfall or to the nearby viewing platform. These steep trails are meant for all fitness levels, but be sure to wear comfortable shoes. Add Wentworth Falls and other attractions to your Katoomba trip itinerary using our Katoomba travel app .

  • We took in the scene from two of the lookouts - the Jamison lookout and the Wentworth Falls lookout. The scenery is spectacular, and even though the two lookouts are only 300 metres apart, the views a...  more »
  • At the end of May, the track went from Wentworth Falls train station to Conservation Hut. From the centre of Sydney to Wentworth fall station, trains run once an hour, so check the timetable. We really wanted to see the Blue Mountains and were going to go to Katoomba like all the tourists. Friends of sydneyers dissuaded us and recommended this track. The track was on a weekday. If there were still people on the stretch from the station to the waterfall, we were all alone from the Undercliff track. On the way very often there are signs, you can at any time go upstairs, there are equipped viewing platforms. It was insanely beautiful! Be sure to visit if you happen to be in Australia. Unfortunately, we did not get to the Overcliff track, repairs were carried out there (seen in the photo). The track is of medium complexity, there are areas with steps of 50 cm high, with small children do not recommend. The whole journey took about 3.5 hours. P.S. Take a snack with you, you can make a small halt with a picturesque view.

  • Nice, easy and safe walk. Beautiful views! Try to find a quieter tome to go otherwise it can get pretty congested with walking tours/groups turning up by coach.
  • An moderate to easy hike with beautiful views. The waterfall is amazing. It does get quite busy on weekends. Would be dangerous in poor weather.
