René Magritte Museum, Jette

#5 of 84 in Museums in Brussels
Housed in the home where he lived for 24 years, René Magritte Museum paints a picture of the life of the Belgian surrealist painter. Rene Magritte, world-renowned for his surrealist painting, lived in this house from 1930 to 1950. Walk the same halls as did the celebrated painter, and see where he created roughly half of his works, including many of his masterpieces. On five floors, the museum displays 200 of Magritte's paintings, including "Scheherazade," "The Return," and "The Empire of Light." See beyond Magritte's paintings as you explore the ground floor, decorated as it would have looked when the artist occupied the home. • If you want to enjoy it, trust the order of the visit and go all the way to end the hall with this kind of circular paint is pretty! We just have the defect of wanting to systematically find the works that we know the most when we should take pleasure in discovering all those that we do not know and that make us better know it. Some hotels negotiate the entrances to some museums, this was my case, I did not pay the entrance, but it is settled at about 10 euros, but there are also tickets paired with the Old Master Museum of the city, very nice to do absolutely !!!

  • Very nice visit. It's a pity that some of his most famous works are in the United States during our visit.

  • Amazing!! The staff are so passionate and well informed and his house is so lovely to visit. So many places and objects that inspired many of his paintings are here
  • Small and simple museum on the life of René Magritte, allowing for a glimpse into the more intimate life of the man, as well as some lesser known works (such as his advertising posters). I recommend downloading the free audio guide on Cloudguide (mobile app).
