Fort Henry National Historic Site, Kingston

4.3
Enjoy a slice of history at Fort Henry National Historic Site. Built in 1812 to protect the naval dockyard of Kingston from potential American interference, it became part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Rideau Canal in 2007. As a visitor, you can observe reenactment drills by the uniformed Fort Henry Guard, enjoy artillery shows, and take guided tours around the fort, shedding light on its military and, potentially, haunted past. After this, peruse the shops in the trade square, or grab a meal at one of the restaurants. Using our custom trip planner, Kingston attractions like Fort Henry National Historic Site can form part of a personalized travel itinerary.

  • Beautiful historic location and very nice people. I liked the arrangement and presentation. Very nice maintained. It was entertaining and educational and we all loved it! Gift shops were great too and people give you good vibes. I am not sure I will go there every single time I visit Kingston, but I recommend it to first timers.
  • I came right at the beginning of the season which means not quite as much stuff is open as it would be during their peak. Even so all the interpreters were eager, ready to go, and knowledgeable. I did the free tour and it was really good, got to see some interesting parts of of the fort that I may not have otherwise. The Fort itself is really interesting and has some great views over the water. If you love history and getting to explore historic landmarks then this is the place for you!
