Enter the world of colorful insects at Butterfly Conservatory, located just minutes from the world-famous waterfalls. Sheltering over 2,000 butterflies that fly freely through the lush vegetation, this modern insect zoo features a climate-controlled greenhouse, 200-seat theater, and a large gift shop. Most of the conservatory's butterflies come from farms in El Salvador, Costa Rica, Australia, and the Philippines. Special nets stretched along the conservatory's glass dome keep the fragile creatures from entangling and dying of hypothermia. Boost your chances that butterflies land on you by wearing brightly colored clothing, moving slowly, and dabbing some perfume just before entering. This was my very first time to the Butterfly Conservatory and what an experience it was!! The fact that you can drop off wheelchair or elderly from the rear of the building so that they are closer to the entrance is amazing! From the first moment with the cashiers to the gentleman who took our photo to all the staff that were super helpful and friendly with a smile. The education video at the beginning was so informative as to the life cycle of a butterfly and how the Conservatory keeps nurturing new ones into the space. The energy of the place made the experience even more enriching with their cheerfulness and smiles. You can tell everyone who works here enjoys their position. Excellent work Butterfly Conservatory! Thank you from a Vancouver, BC resident. I give it a 10 out of 5!!
A little paradise in the dreamiest spot in Ontario. Its proximity to the falls brings in cool fresh air even when the sun is at its strongest and the plethora of beautiful flowers offer the most beautiful aroma as you take a deep breath. Complete with many benches to sit and a fountain, this place is the perfect spot to come and meditate or bring the family for a nice, stress and rush-free afternoon amongst nature's most beautiful plants. Scenic views offer great pictures for social media or for amateur photographers.
