Learn about the history of footwear at Bata Shoe Museum. The museum was established in 1995, based upon a collection of footwear belonging to Sonja Bata and her husband Tomas, son of the founder of the Bata Shoe Company. Situated in an eclectic deconstructive-style building designed by Raymond Moriyama, the museum houses the largest collection of footwear in the world. Admire shoes from numerous different cultures and time periods, divided into themes, and view footwear that used to belong to notable people, such as Queen Victoria, Elton John, and Elvis. Bata Shoe Museum Reviews
For the shoes hoards, this would be haven. The scientist nerd not so much. Different shoes through the years. Young children may think it is boring. more »
A very unusual museum, filled with shoes from around the world and around the times. An easy and entertaining mid afternoon experience. Very accessible and reasonable. more »
Cute museum for shoes through the centuries. Easy fun to do. Can be done in an hour easily. Street meter parking best option. Icing on the car was a presentation from staff on different shoes that you were able to touch and see. With historic info. Famous people worn shoe exhibits. Definitely for fashion students.
Smaller than I imagined, but great exhibits, friendly staff, and interesting facts- plus it only takes about an hour to get through. I wouldn’t take young kids here, but teenage girls might love this. Not a strong representation of men’s shoes, but not surprised by that. Very reasonable prices, and a great deal for students!
