Spanish Fortress features an impressive collection of amphorae and other objects from ancient times and the Middle Ages. From the town square, walk north, passing the main city gate. Climb the stairs of the medieval city walls to the fortress. Perched on a hill, it offers a panoramic view of Old Town and Pakleni Islands. Built at the beginning of the 16th century, the fortress was restored after the explosion of the powder chamber in 1579. The French added some reinforcements during their rule.     Would recommend. Its not big, but surely it is interesting. There is also underneath it a path that you can walk and see various species of plants. Although this road leads to the walls and the doors, these are locked, so be careful not to make a wrong turn, there are sings drawn on pavement. Up in the fortress there is a cafe and a small prison wich was really cool to see. Grab your self a combo ticket for a theatre wich is located in the city, which really pays off.

    We havent visited inside the fortress but just the view outside was enough to be impressed. Really easy to get to by car, and you have few benches to rest and admire the great view. You can see whole Hvar and the adjacent islands. Best spot in whole Hvar city in my opinion
