The splendor of Islamic architecture draws visitors to Mosque of Ibn Tulun, allegedly built on top of a hill on which Noah's ark landed after the Biblical flood. The building was commissioned by Ahmad ibn Tulun, Abbasid governor, and finished in 879 CE. Take refuge from the sun and appreciate the serenity of this place of worship by stepping inside the covered halls surrounding the central courtyard. You may recognize parts of the mosque from the film "The Spy Who Loved Me," which was filmed on site.     one of the best monuments I visited. one of the oldest if not the oldest mosque in Cairo. love how spacious is. we went on Saturday morning and it was completely empty which is great. cause you can have full appreciation of the building. if you are in Cairo you should pay thjs place a visit
