Also known as the "collapsed pyramid" or the "false pyramid," Meidum Pyramid was probably built by Snefru, a 4th dynasty king. Experts believe that the edifice was originally designed as a step pyramid and later turned into a true pyramid by covering the steps with limestone. The remaining three steps of the pyramid tower some 65 m (213 ft) above the green oasis on the desert's edge. To get into the inner burial chamber, you will need to descend down a narrow passage and crawl through a hole, which is the highlight of the visit for many.     Meidum Pyramid is a bit off the normal tourist route. It was an optional extra on my Egyptian holiday so here I was. Entering the tomb was a matter of quite a ways down, then up on some ladders, and.....  more »

    Nothing to see. It's far away from Cairo city, about 1-1.5 hours driving. Waste of time to go visiting there.  more »

    Another great pyramid. And there is a bonus. A mastaba that you can go inside as well. We had a great time here. If you like pyramids, go.

    It was interesting to learn about the pyramid progression. It was a bit awkward having a guy take us through who seemed to just be a random, and then asked for money afterwards. If you go be prepared to tip the random "guides" on site.
