Housed in a former warehouse and several historical vessels, Musee Portuaire documents the city's experience as a major port, its development and role in the nation and region, and what it's like to work at sea. Explore the museum's extensive collection of artifacts, displays, and exhibits, which showcase a variety of personal effects, historical items, and seafaring memorabilia related to maritime industries. View the lives of dockworkers, sailors, and fishermen through a series of multimedia displays, such as photographs and videos, which are interactive. Afterward, make your way to the three ships that form the museum's floating portion: a barge, a lightship, and a heavy-duty, three-masted vessel. You can climb aboard these ships and view the living conditions for yourself. It did a great job of explaining the whole history of Dunkirk and its port. There's a lot that has happened here that most people do not know about. The majority of the exhibit however is not about the WWII part of history, it instead focuses on the entirety. Very Engaging and informative. You can learn a lot.
Excellent history of the port. Very attractive environment.
