  • Colonne Vendôme (Victory Column) is one of many monuments scattered throughout the city of Paris. This is a 44 metres bronze column erected at Place Vendôme in Paris in 1810 Designed in the manner of Trajan's Column in Rome, the monument showcases a 280 metre long spiral frieze of bas-reliefs detailing the Battle of Austerlitz and is topped with a statue of Napoleon. Interestingly, the column was cast in the bronze from over 1200 guns and cannons seized from the Austrian and Russian armies. Have a look at Colonne Vendôme if you plan to pass through this area of Paris before continuing onward with other intended sightseeing.
  • One of the most important symbols of Paris. In the center of place Vendome, this column consists of a stone core wrapped in a 160m-long bronze spiral made from hunreds of Austrian and Russian cannons captured by Napoleon at the battle of Austerlitz in 1805. The statue on top depicts Napoleon in classic Roman dress as Caesar, victories of napoleon. There is a smaller version of the statue model at the Building of Patriotic War museum on Red Square, Moscow. The museum is dedicated to war with Napoleon in 1812.
