Built in 1913, The New Town Hall is the seat of the city mayor. The striking building is reminiscent of a centuries-old castle. The lobby features four scale models of Hannover as it was in the Middle Ages, before World War II, after the destruction of 1945, and how the city looks today. After you explore the rest of the building's ornately decorated rooms, you can take the elevator up to the dome. From its 100 m (328 ft) high observation deck, you can see the whole city and--on clear days--even the Harz Mountains. The town hall is also home to a restaurant serving regional and international cuisine. Use our Hannover trip planner to arrange your visit to The New Town Hall and other attractions in Hannover.
The New Town Hall Reviews
We visited on a lovely sunny day and went to the top of the dome - the lift goes up a track which is slightly curved and you can see through the floor which is pretty cool. I'd recommend this, the vie... more »
Určitě jedna z dominant města, kterou musíte navštívit.Kromě výtahu, který vás vyveze na vyhlídku ,nad město,je zde také možnost procházky ,kolem jezera, které s budovou bezprostředně sousedí. more »Definitely one of the landmarks of the city you have to visit. In addition to the elevator, which will take you to the lookout, over the city, there is also the possibility of walking around the lake, which is directly adjacent to the building.
This is one of the best town halls I have seen in Germany till date. It's huge and marvelous. Inside there are all official rooms just like any other town hall and in the centre there are 4 awesome replicas of Hannover city over different time periods. There's also some arrangement to go to the top, but because of time constraints, I wasn't able to go there. The back side of the town hall is picturesque with a small lake and greenery. There's a garden where people come for a walk or chit chat. Great place to visit.
The impressive building is free to visit. It’s nicely situated in a park, near to the Maschsee and several museums. Inside there are some interesting models of Hannover before and after the WWII bombing. For part of the year it’s possible (for a fee) to ride a unique parabolic lift up the dome to a viewing platform.
