Würzburg Residence
See the world's largest ceiling fresco at Würzburg Residence, the majestic residence of the prince-bishops of Würzburg. Constructed in the early 18th century, the palace combines aspects of French chateau and Viennese Baroque architecture. The fresco is above the palace's grand royal staircase. You can wander through the Imperial Hall with its stucco sculptures, colorful murals, and gold ornamentation. Although you must pay to enter the palace, you can roam the tranquil residence gardens free of charge. This site is on the UNESCO World Heritage list. more »
The Baroque Palace of the Holy World Lord, Bishop of Wuerzburg, is a World Heritage Site, but it is very worldly and ironic, but it is so beautiful. There was also a Japanese tour group because of the highlights of the Bavarian tour. Photography is prohibited inside, so it seems that there is no regret to visit after a light preparation of the highlight. After a tour of the interior, you can also visit the garden. Be careful not to slip because it is wide, has stone stairs, and there is snow and ice in winter.View original -
This palace is beautifully maintained. We went to the included English tour & the guide was fantastic. She went into great detail in the main corridor & then we were free to roam the wings on our own.... more »

The residence was one fantastic afternoon of beautiful frescoes and a great guide that was very informative and entertaining. I thought that the gift shop was over priced but the clerk was very helpful. As a handicapped person i was very appreciative of the availability of the elevator, as i couldn't handle the stairs.

Stunning palace. Definitely suggested the guided tour to see some of its internal space. Really well organized and with very interesting explanation. Not allowed to take pictures inside the palace. After the tour, it's possible to visit the gardens of the palace. Amazing gardens with tons of flowers around. Very good place for taking some pictures.
