Unique experience to see a show in summer preferably ancient tragedy or ancient comedy. Unforgettable atmosphere in the light of the moon and the The Acropolis which is light in itself, terrible acoustics, magical views, ideal theatre No. 2 after No. 1 which is the theatre of Epidaurus. The top theatres to enjoy a unique performance of Aeschylus or Euripides. You should definitely do another unique experience for all Greeks and tourists.View original -

It is one of the first buildings that can be admired as soon as you enter the acropolis. Cleverly renovated, it is a pleasure to admire it from above. At certain times of the year it is also used for theatrical performances. Instagram: iviaggidiemaView original

In the lower part of the Athens' Acropolis the Odeon of Herodes Atticus is an amphitheater where during spring/summer/autumn theatrical plays and concerts are held. I went to a traditional Greek music concert and lightnings lit up the arcades behind the stage. Great experience!! I recommend at least a visit, it is included in the ticket for the Acropolis

This ancient theatre still hosts performances in these days and amazes visitors with an impressive acoustics. I have been told it is the second best in the world, the first being the Epidaurus theatre in the Peloponnese. I believe it. I visited this theatre right before mid-September 2019 with my niece to watch a graduation students’ performance of a Greek fairy tale “The Snowman and the Girl”. I was amazed by the acoustics and just wished being seated more to the centre of the auditorium to have a proper view of the light effects. The performance was impressive and the whole experience just great. Tips for visitors: Take a light jacket or a warm scarf even in summer time, it may get surprisingly windy and chilly in the auditorium. Also, be prepared to ascend or descend many stairs and perhaps take an extra pillow for back support while seated.
