€6 per adult. Friendly and welcoming staff. In the Palace of St. Michael and St. George and the collection is quite large and varied. There are collections of Japanese, Chinese, Indian and Nomadic Central Asian art, to name a few. There is plenty to see and most of the signs are in Greek and English. However, some of the tv monitors weren’t working. In some places the lights were very dim, most likely to protect the delicate artwork, but it did make it difficult to see. Also, in a few sections the bulbs were simply gone. It would be good to get a little more information on the three main rooms on the first floor, one appears to be a throne room and there are huge paintings in the rooms as well. You could easily spend two hours here. Also, to the left of the main entrance are some rooms detailing the history of the building and it’s significance as well as the history of the Heptenesian/Ionian state from 1800 to its unification with Greece in 1864. There is bathroom facilities. Small and tiny gift shop. Audio guides available. No lifts or easy access for those with prams or wheelchairs.
Surprisingly good museum of Asian art and history. Many interesting artifacts and good info in English. The building itself is impressive too!
