4.7
Delphi Archaeological Museum houses ancient artifacts discovered at the Oracle of Delphi, spanning from the shrine's founding in the 18th century BC, to its decline in Late Antiquity. The fourteen exhibit rooms feature sculptures, statues, and other objects that were offered to the Oracle, as well as fragments from the sacred building. As you explore the museum, you'll learn about the Oracle's political, religious, and artistic significance throughout the ages. The museum has plenty of benches if you want to pause and consider some of the exceptional relics. Once you've finished taking in the exhibits, recharge with a cup of coffee from the on-site cafeteria. • After visiting the sanctuary of Delphi, entering its museum is to find seed pieces in the photographs of our study books, in the secondary school. There are part of the gold and amber jewels of Syfnos, a sculpture of Dionysus of the Classic period, some kore or sculptures from the archaic period, with its rigidity and its stereotypical smile and the famous Auriga, which I wanted to contemplate. Countless works of art justify taking time to this visit.

  • A very neat museum; it is relatively small, as it only has elements collected from the ruins of Delphi. But the pieces are very well presented. The rooms are spacious, and at least in our case, we enjoyed it because it is not crowded as it happens in very massive places (perhaps it influenced that we have started the visit early). The beauty of the sculptures, and the decorative details of the buildings, remembering that they were built more than 2000 years ago, really wonderful. Although by logic, it would be better to tour the museum first; this is how the models are observed and the history of Delphi is understood, before visiting the ruins; but if the day is sunny, the order should be defined to have less strong sun during the walking tour of the ruins. Highly recommended.

  • Beautiful place full of history and myths. A special atmosphere surrounds this place. The landscape is very beautiful. The visit of the site is to be completed with the museum which has nice art pieces you won't find during visit. I loved this place
