A fantastic experience with Rhodes Roads, hosted by Dimitris and Nikos. Booked directly via email for a good price and was all sorted within an hour. Although there are breaks for a swim/snorkel... more »
My partner and I stumbled across the Sea Kayaking excursion from Rhodes Roads by chance when looking for things to do in Lindos. The €75 each price tag made us a little apprehensive but before I go any further I assure you that this trip was worth every penny. It was such a truly mesmerizing day with priceless memories. You won't regret it. Our confirmed pick-up time was between 8.10am and 8.20am outside of our hotel. The transport arrived at 8.00am ahead of time and we were introduced to our guide for the day, Dimitris. He was so friendly and full of interesting local knowledge. Although native to Athens, he spoke perfect English making us feel very comfortable. We took a scenic 15 minute drive out of town to the get us to the starting point. Upon arriving Dimitris quickly went through steering the kayak and taught us how to paddle effectively. When we were comfortable we donned our life jackets and set off, it's all pretty simple stuff. A quick but important bit of side information is that we were provided with a watertight rucksack that we kept with us in our kayak at all times. There was no need to worry about the safety of our possessions although I wouldn't recommend electronic devices that aren't waterproof for obvious reasons, luckily we didn't fall in! We followed the coastline for a few miles, all the time with insights and knowledge from Dimitris who clearly knew the place very well. The views were beautiful, with lots of open sea, caves, beaches and cliffs that we're home to mountain goats. We stopped off a few times along the way at picturesque beaches, secluded away from all the tourism and spent some time snorkeling which was a great experience in itself. All the snorkeling equipment was provided by Dimitris. In no way was we rushed along. This was our day and Dimitris just left us to it to enjoy at our own pace. It sounds small, but it was nice to not feel pressure and take it all in. As we booked through an external agency (seamless process but I would recommend going straight through Rhodes Roads) we didn't realise that water was provided throughout the day and even a traditional Greek salad for lunch. It certainly wasn't fine dining whilst dripping wet from our snorkeling but the food was delicious and hit the spot. Just make sure you hold on to your lunch box as I lost my last few mouthfuls to the sand and had to bury the evidence (sorry Dimitris). My final recommendation is if you're lucky enough to own a waterproof video camera then take it. We took our GoPro Hero 5 Session and the shots are great. If not, Dimitris does take his own camera and sends you the pictures he gets throughout the day via email at no extra cost. Remember to take sun cream and reapply throughout the day. I spent quite a long time in the sea swimming and was a bit sun burnt by the end of the day. All in all, you get 7 miles of kayaking fun, plenty of swimming / snorkeling, and an expert tour guide along the way. It felt like 3 for the price of 1 in my eyes and that makes it a bargain. Plus you're fed and watered along the way. Huge thanks to Dimitris and the team. I will recommend this trip to anyone travelling to Lindos / the island of Rhodes in future.
Top guides, super nice kayak tour! Again at any time.
