Arch of Galerius, Thessaloniki

One of the city's most important and intriguing landmarks, the remains of Arch of Galerius provide a glimpse into Greece's long and fascinating history. The triumphal structure was built in the 4th century and today three of the eight pillars survive along with the masonry cores of the arches. Roman Emperor Galerius commissioned the monument to celebrate his victory over the Persians, and to this day you can witness scenes of the war on the remaining marble slabs. Spend some time interpreting the depictions and soak up the lively atmosphere of this popular meeting spot. There are a number of bars, restaurants, and tourist attractions in the area. • Thessaloniki is a port city, beautiful the promenade that skirts the sea, where you can find two boats one that follows the Roman Galea and another a small galleon of pirates that at the modest figure of 5 euros related to the obligation to consume on board and make you take a small trip around the harbour. To visit the Basilica of Santa Sofia, externally is not much but inside and everything else, a jump to do even at the arch of Galerio, not to miss the Rotunda of Galerio little beautiful, during the route there is a square where they are visible even from outside the remains of the Roman Agora. With the car you climb to the top of Thessaloniki to visit the Kastrà (castle) is surrounded by ancient walls and the Pyrgos (free), a tower on which you can climb up to the top and where you can admire the panorama of Thessaloniki and the sea. The interior of the cathedral of St. Gregory Palamas is very beautiful. Surely the White Tower that stands on the promenade is to visit, in the past it was an Ottoman prison, inside there is nothing that, you can climb up to the embattled part. Lastly to visit the Aristotle Square which is surrounded by hotels and buildings of a certain value, it is certainly the largest in the city full of bars and clubs. Shopping street is Via Egnatia, a very long street full of clothing shops and not only, full of local tavernbars bars and restaurants is Ladadika
