  • We had booked 2 tours by bike: one at the mills and the other for a visit to the city center the first was cancelled the same morning (we were offered the polders instead that we were not interested) the visit to the city center disappointed us very much in the sight of the name positive comments on this site the guide was not smiling and his comments were quite minimalist. We could hardly enjoy the scenery as it rolled fast between each step and we had to focus on the road to follow him more my wife had a tire that s deflated + + from the middle of the visit, the Guide seemed little concerned , "we will try to find a pump"... the ride has ended as well! Fortunately, we made other visits in 4 days, much more interesting...

  • Make your arrival in town. Very interesting and very rewarding ride. The guide was fine, we explained the history of Amsterdam well. We visited the neighborhoods of the city, away from the tourists, which allowed us to come back afterwards.

  • We chose the Amsterdam Vélo windmill tour to support a local business and because it seemed less touristy than others we read about. Good choice! The morning of the tour, the train from Amsterdam Central was not running, and we appreciated the guides being patient and flexible when we arrived 10 min late (several of us had transportation challenges getting there/back). Our tour had all French speakers, so our guide spoke French (and English to us, kindly), stopping to explain things and giving us time to take in the surroundings. Going inside the windmills and seeing the 2 methods used for producing food and lumber products is essential. We learned so much and have a new appreciation for this centuries old technology. Our guide was knowledgeable, and also gave us lots of time to look, explore, ask questions, take photos and enjoy. The value of the tour is excellent (the admission to 2 windmills, and the bike and guide for several hours). Great tour! Tour Notes: The biking on this tour is minimal: mostly through neighborhoods and across a bridge to the village. Expect mostly flat terrain, and to navigate some narrow and crowded paths. Bring water, and Euro change for the only bathroom (there is a charge to use the windmill village restroom). Enjoy learning about the windmills: they are amazing! Wishes: Samples! A tiny sample at the peanut windmill, would have been a nice touch. And because the air smells like chocolate, a chocolate on the bridge (or anytime) would have been a delight. Set expectations (we have a short ride to the windmill village, with 2 photo stops. There is 1 bathroom at the village, best to use as we pass or as we come back (so you don’t have to leave the tour). You will have 10 min to explore the village as we depart — if you want to grab a drink, chocolate, or an ice cream.).
  • Custom tour just the way you want it. Small group, and multilingual.
