Keukenhof, Lisse

Garden Park Must See
Visit Keukenhof, the world's second-largest flower garden. With more than 7 million flowers in bloom every year from March to May, this is also called the Garden of Europe. The park was founded in 1949 on 15th-century hunting grounds that were developed to display Dutch and European hybrids. Discover 32 hectares (79 acres) of colorful, blossom-filled parkland. Walk through Castle Keukenhof which was built in 1641, view the traditional English landscape garden, and stroll along the pathways of the exotic Japanese garden. Because the Netherlands is known for tulips, you may expect to see many of them here, however, the only nearby tulip fields lie beyond the garden's borders and are privately owned. Put Keukenhof on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our Lisse journey builder site .

  • Very very good. Also very busy pick your time, the earlier the better to get ahead of the crowds. Catering is quite efficient although prices as could be expected on the high side. Well worth visiting  more »
  • This park is just a miracle! It's better not to think! Such a variety of colors and paints, the mind is not understandable. A huge number of varieties of tulips. There are some that at first glance and do not say that it is tulips.

  • Superb place. Superlative!! Easily accessible. We used public transport and in no place did we find it difficult to carry buggy for our toddler. Photos do not justify the beauty of this place. We were with 2kids ( 2yrs and 6yrs old) and both had a great time. There is also a play area and a petting farm inside the gardens. Toilets and restaurants are very conveniently placed. The boat ride and views from the top of the windmill are breathtaking. Staff members were really warm and welcoming. Exhibitions were very informative and beautiful. Keukenhof gardens are usually open from end of March to mid May. A must visit place in Netherlands.
  • Absolutely gorgeous flower park. The walks are full of colors and patterns that wow the eye. And so. Many. Tulips! With such stunning colors too... Some of the flowers were so rich and bright my phone refused to focus properly in the midday light... The sheer number of varieties was staggering. There is even a hothouse for those more delicate flowers and plants that dislike the cold. It is both child and dog friendly. It was a little chilly, especially with the spring wind so I would recommend at the very least a jacket if not a coat. All paths are wheelchair accessible and there are multiple cafes scattered through the park in case you'd like a hot coffee or chocolate as you walk. This is the third time I've gone, and I would gladly go again. It is a lovely attraction for tourists and Dutch people both.
