Een aanrader. Deze tuinen zijn veel leuker en beter dan die in Leiden. Momenteel in het voorjaar zijn er ook buiten veel bloeiende planten en bomen te zien. Currently in spring there are also many flowering plants and trees to be seen. Highlights: The well kept greenhouses, the beautiful rock garden/Hill next to Fort main dike, many types of bamboo. An ideal place for beautiful flowers (macro) photos. The year theme for 2019 "Pollination in flower plants" is well brought with a special exhibition and walking route "Darwins Dating agency" and a child treasure trail. The Horeca, inside and outside, is quite basic but further good. Friendly staff. On the weekend, free parking at the car park in front of the door (ticket by automobile, when exiting the barrier goes up automatically).
I work near the botanical garden and have been going here quite a few times already since admission is free for me. The gardens are beautiful, quite big and very peaceful especially on warm spring or summer afternoons. I love the Japanese style it has in some places and how they decorated all the plants on the rocks. If you're in the area and you want to stroll through a beautiful un-dutch looking garden, go check it out! They also have some green houses with tropical flora and fauna.
One of the oldest and finest botanical gardens. It is associated with the University of Utrecht but it's appeal is much wider than pure academic research. Accessible by bicycle or public transportation. The panels explaining facts about the plants are well written and often an English translation is provided. Take at least an hour to walk the grounds, visit the greenhouses and visit the rock garden near the fortification. Highly recommend for everybody
