National Gallery of Ireland
At National Gallery of Ireland see Irish and other European masterpieces, including Italian Baroque and Dutch works. Founded in 1854, the museum houses 14,000 pieces, with an extensive permanent collection of Irish paintings. Admire the dramatic architecture of the Millennium Wing, which opened in 2002 and was designed by Benson & Forsyth. Stroll through Merrion Square on your way to or from the museum and take in the scenery. Check online for information about tours, educational programs, and visiting exhibits. This is an AMAZING free attraction. They run on donations, so if you can afford it you should definitely do so. There were numerous rooms and different displays throughout the gallery. There were paintings from many world famous painters as well- Picasso, Renoir, Monet, and a slew of Dutch Masters. I enjoyed the Irish portrait gallery for what I learned about culture and history. I'm very glad I went here. It's the perfect rainy day activity for a traveler on a budget who likes art and history. Bigger and better than I expected.

A pleasant place to visit and take in some immense works of art. It is great that for the months of July and August, the gallery is offering free guided tours of the most notable pieces (including works of Monet, Caravaggio) every weekday at 2:30pm. Would recommend this for any visitors, even if you are new to the world of art.
