Statue of San Carlone, Arona

Built in the 1600s, Statue of San Carlone is a bronze statue of San Carlo Borromeo, the archbishop of Milan from 1564 to 1584. This figure overlooks Lake Maggiore, and you can ascend stairs inside the statue to the top, where there are windows through the eyes and ears.   • Buying the three euro ticket leads to a terrace that offers a nice view, but if you don't want to go further it's not worth it (you'll find the same view from the fortress of Arona, not far away). Exciting is the ascent to the head of the saint, but it includes a very steep staircase, protected by a fence. Absolutely to advise against those who suffer from vertigo or those who are not trained, so much so that the few brave who manage to get to the eyes (careful because at some point it seems to have arrived, but there is still to climb) give a book (do not cheat because you they see with the camera). Looking from your mouth and eyes you will have a beautiful view.

  • This statue stands imposingly on the heights of Arona. The entrance costs 6 euros to visit it entirely with the steep but in my opinion not complex staircase leading up to the top
