Cala Biriala, Baunei

#5 of 8 in Beaches in Baunei
Lounge on the white sands of Cala Biriala, a small beach nestled between high hills and a forest of oaks and junipers. The clear water and rich wildlife create a perfect setting for snorkeling and scuba diving, while the surrounding hills offer ideal areas for hiking. Admire the view of the forest, the natural sandstone arch that plunges into the water, and the sunlight reflecting off the white pebbles. Don't forget to bring an umbrella--or a wide-brimmed hat--and shoes suitable for walking on pebbly terrain. • a small cove to access from the sea wedged in a slice of the sea that leaves breathless for the colors, for the freshness and for the cleanliness of the waters. Perfect beach with sand composed of grains of crumbled stones on which to lie without even the towel. in August there is the problem bees that alert those like me who are allergic to their bite. simply a paradise.

  • Route of about 2 hours, on a drop of about 300 meters, with some sections more suitable for trained people. The starting point is reached by following the same road that you would do to cala Goloritze, instead of turning for the latter you continue straight to the end of the paved road. After that you walk along a dirt road about 7 km long, up to a fenced parking for a fee (5 euros per half). The trail has very few directions, if you want to find the right way I recommend you take the main one. You'll find passages consisting of iron stairs, benches and juniper stairs that descend close to the wall. Beware of some passages a little too slippery, very close to the void. When you are above the descent, descend on the right side of the cove, at the height of the arch over the sea. Once you get down, between the boulders there is first a hole not so big for the passage and then a tunnel that will get you up to the cove. Here the great disappointment, as in the period of greatest tourist influx you will see a go-ahead of boats of all kinds (motorboats, boats etc.) that continuously move to the shore to leave and take tourists. It felt like we were in an industrial port, smelling of fuel and the crowded drop of people. Some recommendations, the excursion should be done with hiking shoes, bring in your backpack a good supply of (water 2 or 3 liters)...
