Standing tall in Pisa's most famous square, Duomo di Pisa is a medieval cathedral dating to 1064. The church has a distinctive Pisan-Romanesque style with noticeable Byzantine influences. Admire the black-and-white marble interior, and look up at the gilded ceiling and the frescoed dome. The frescoes had to be redone after a fire in 1595 that ruined much of the cathedral's Renaissance artworks. The 14th-century mosaic in the apse survived the fire.     It was 16:45 the guy at the entrance of the bapttistero said that we have another 10 minutes left, as the bapttisterio and the duomo close at 17:00. We rush through the bapttisterio in 2 minutes and.....  more »

    Very busy place. Beautiful location. A check off my bucket list. Most locals were friendly in this location. Wished the other travelers were half as nice.
