Leaning Tower of Pisa is known worldwide for its unintended tilt to one side. For a rewarding view, climb to the top. Designed to stand upright but built with a faulty foundation on unstable soil, this freestanding bell tower began to lean long before construction was finished. The tilt gradually increased until the structure was stabilized. The leaning was partially corrected by massive restoration efforts in the 20th century. Tilting precariously for centuries, the top of the tower has been displaced about 4 m (13 ft) from where it would be if the structure were perfectly vertical. Climbing the tower requires a reservation-based ticket, best purchased well in advance to avoid a wait. You can buy a same-day ticket that allows you to enter at a specific time, usually one to two hours after the purchase time. We visited this historical place during our last year Italy trip. It was a wonderful experience, visiting this leaning tower. Lot's of photography done and enjoyed. We also went there again in the morning for a long run. It was a serene unique experience in all. Place is clean and well maintained. Security is very strict. It was really nice to be there twice. Feels like we should visit again.
The leaning tower of Pisa is so beautiful that I spent and entire evening here! With beautiful domes surrounding the building, you can spend a good 5-6 hours here, especially if you’re into photography. I’d recommend visiting in the evening to see the tower during day, sunset and night. I didn’t really climb up the tower since I was lazy after a long day. But, it’s be a fun walk up the tower, I guess! It’s slant changed my perspective of perfection and now everything in my room is askew! 🙂
