One half of one of the oldest national parks in Kenya, Tsavo East acts as the dry, flat counterpart to its wet westerly neighbor. Divided by both road and railway, the eastern side of park supports wildlife with vast plains, the Tsavo River flowing in from the west, and the Galana River creating powerful white-water rapids. See vast numbers of buffaloes, Maasai lions, endangered black rhinos, and hundreds of species of birds, and keep an eye out for red-dusted elephants playing on the water's edge. The park is also home to world's longest lava flow, stretching 290 km (180.2 mi) along the western border.     We weren't even in the park for 10 minutes before we saw two lionesses take down a Cape buffalo. Some of the bull elephants were in musth, with gland secretions, and their manhood dragging the...  more »

    Was at Tsavo East in 2020 November, great park and very large. We were lucky to see some amazing wildlife from insects, birds, lizards to big animals like; giraffe, buffalo, elephant, cheetah, leopard, zebra, a variety of antelopes and gazelles, etc. I highly recommend Tsavo East National Park to local and foreign tourists.
