Explore the ruins of Kharakhorum Museum, the ancient capital of the Mongol empire and part of the Orkhon Valley World Heritage Site. The town reached its peak in the 13th and 14th centuries, used by Genghis Khan as a base for his army and later expanded by his son, Ogodei. Excavations performed in the 20th century unearthed a variety of remains, including roads, temple walls, and kiln ovens.
