Trip Planner: Europe / Poland / Southern Poland / Lesser Poland Province / Krakow / Muzeum Krakowa, oddzial Fabryka Emalia Oskara Schindlera
Get an up-close look at the city during the Nazi occupation at Muzeum Krakowa, oddzial Fabryka Emalia Oskara Schindlera. The permanent exhibit focuses on the period between 1939 and 1945. Located in a former administrative building of Oskar Schindler's enamel factory, the museum narrates the history of a city destroyed and rebuilt over the course of several foreign occupations and two world wars. Explore the main space, which features Schindler's office, preserved just as he left it more than seven decades ago, as well as the "Survivors' Ark," made of enamel pots similar to those the workers crafted during the war. Don't miss the museum's recreated ghetto apartment to get a sense of the wartime experiences of the city's Jewish inhabitants. Very interesting if you read everything as you go round but unfortunately a few of the interactive information screens didn't work. We made our own way there and bought tickets at the door. The... more »
Very Interesting museum. Glad I went to it. If you are walking like us there are signs to it. And a cafe at it. more »
Part of one of our best days in Krakow that almost wasn’t! We nearly left after visiting the first room thinking that was all because the entrance fee was so reasonable. We turned the narrow corner and discovered multiple nooks and crannies all expertly curated that took us on a two hour journey. A must see! Watch for times and lines. Capacity is limited.
It said at the entrance that the tickets for that day were sold out, but as we went in to ask they happened to have 7 tickets left for the time slot. The museum was amazing, the decor and music in each room made you feel as if you were in that period, feeling how the polish and Jewish people felt. This was an educational experience and I would thoroughly recommend it!
