La Puerta del Sol es una plaza bastante turística en la que entre otras encontrarás la famosa escultura del oso y el madroño, muchos artistas callejeros de todo tipo (payasos, Bob Esponja, Chewaca, Al... more »Puerta del Sol is a very tourist square in which among others you will find the famous sculpture of the bear and the Strawberry tree, many street performers of all kinds (clowns, SpongeBob, Chewaca, Alien, Predator, Gypsy trying to sell you Romero etc), and especially the Start of the road to many places of interest in Madrid, since from there you can walk up to Doña Manolita, Plaza Callao, Gran via, Plaza Mayor, San Ginés chocolate, Fnac, etc. There is a Metro stop whose doors overlook the same square called SOL, and various fast food restaurants like the KFC.

In the square has the monument of "El Oso y el Madroño", the symbol of Madrid, which is beautiful, and is worth visiting. I've been through the place a few times, and I don't think there's any way to cross this square during your trip. An excellent experience, as well as the various shops in the adjacent streets.
