Great experience with great people!
My husband and I summit journeys started on the 7th July unto the 12th and it was a success. Ascend Tanzania had an amazing team of guides, porters, chef, drivers and office managemen. The office manager Mbwa was a reassuring welcome we needed after missing our connection flight the night before. He and Musa (guide 1gimmediately fed us and did gear check and all admin immediately. We travelled with our quiet and ever-smiling chef on our way to Marangu gate. Ramadhan (guide e 2) was an amazing balance and perfect fit for my husband who doesn't walk as slow as me. The only way in which both Musa and Rama took us to pacing and drinking and water while enjoying the forest was so relaxed. I immediately noticed how they always led but were always listening to our breathing, pauses and pacing. From the beginning We also noticed the respect our guides had for the mountain as their employer - they walked and always picked up trash where (tourists) had littered on route. We were fed soup which I loved and appreciated each day as it got colder. When we asked if we could have Ugali, we immediately shifted the chef's menu plan but he was happy to keep us happy. You have gold in Boca - our waiter, hand in waiting, fill up all our water bottles, happiest human being, punctual and everything. He will make a good guide soon. The porters were so protective and ensured my stretcher ride from Kibo to Horombo after summit was seamless. My heart broke when all our tips were short by 10-20US each at the end coz we had to pay for a new flight and extra accommodation in Nairobi. Their send off song and celebration video will remain my priceless momento forever. I am an unofficial ambassador for Ascend Tanzania and any chance I get to rave about good service you know I will mention your names. Thank you Thank you Asante sana!
