Popular historic sites such as Culloden Battlefield and Fort George are in your itinerary. Discover out-of-the-way places like Cairngorm Mountain and Cairngorm Reindeer Centre. Fort William is the second largest settlement in the Highlands of Scotland with around 10,000 inhabitants – and the largest town: only the city of Inverness is larger.Fort William is a major tourist centre, with Glen Coe just to the south, Aonach Mòr to the east and Glenfinnan to the west, on the Road to the Isles. Kick off your visit on the 8th (Sun): contemplate the long history of Glenfinnan Viaduct, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Nevis Range Mountain Resort, then take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Ben Nevis, and finally take in the dramatic scenery at Steall Waterfall. Keep things going the next day: stroll through Glencoe Lochan, identify plant and animal life at Highland Titles Nature Reserve, and then appreciate the views at Glen Coe.
