A city of technology and industry, Turin is in northwestern Italy, a one-hour drive from the French border and slightly more than that from the Mediterranean Sea.
Get some historical perspective at Palazzo Reale and Santuario della Consolata. You'll explore the less-touristy side of things at Armeria Reale and Borgo Medievale. Get out of town with these interesting Turin side-trips: Castello di Grinzane Cavour (in Grinzane Cavour), Val Ferret (in Courmayeur) and Camo Museo a Cielo Aperto (in Camo). There's much more to do: get engrossed in the history at Museo Pietro Micca, steep yourself in history at Pont-Saint-Martin, see the interesting displays at Forte di Bard, and get interesting insight from Tours.

For traveler tips, other places to visit, where to stay, and tourist information, read Turin online trip itinerary planner.

Popular historic sites such as La Citta Alta and Chiesa di San Maurizio al Monastero Maggiore are in your itinerary. Visiting Isola Bella and San Giulio Island will get you outdoors. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Milan: Castello di Rivalta (in Gazzola), Rocca Sanvitale di Fontanellato (in Fontanellato) and Governor's Palace (in Piacenza). And it doesn't end there: take in the architecture and atmosphere at Cattedrale (Duomo) di Bergamo e Battistero, get engrossed in the history at Villa Necchi Campiglio, get a taste of the local shopping with Palazzo Borromeo, and explore the activities along Lake Orta.

You'll find plenty of places to visit near Venice: Verona (Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore, Piazzale Castel San Pietro, &more). There's still lots to do: stop by Cannaregio, steep yourself in history at Basilica dei Santi Giovanni e Paolo, take in the views from Ponte dei Sospiri, and take a stroll through Campo del Ghetto.
