Situated on the confluence of the rivers Ouse and Foss, York has witnessed an abundance of major political events throughout its two millennia of existence.
Escape the urban bustle at RSPB Bempton Cliffs and Filey Beach. Popular historic sites such as Rievaulx Abbey and Fountains Abbey are in your itinerary. Go for a jaunt from York to Malton to see Eden Camp Modern History Theme Museum about 38 minutes away. There's still lots to do: see the interesting displays at Yorkshire Air Museum and contemplate in the serene atmosphere at York Minster.
