In the Aosta Valley bordering Switzerland and France, the medieval city of Aosta is famous for its prime skiing conditions and rich cultural history.
Visit Teatro Romano and Collegiata dei Santi Pietro e Orso for their historical value. Get some cultural insight at Sacra di San Michele and Grosjean Vins. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Aosta: Azienda Vitivinicola Fontechiara (in Borgomanero), Le Ville di Ravello (in Ravello) and Orta San Giulio (Lake Orta, Piazza Motta, &more). There's still lots to do: identify plant and animal life at Parco Nazionale Gran Paradiso, appreciate the extensive heritage of Ricetto di Candelo, take a stroll through Piazza Emile Chanoux, and take in the architecture and atmosphere at Santuario di Oropa.
