Built on seven hills, Lisbon has experienced a renaissance in recent years, making it the cultural star of Portugal.
Museu Calouste Gulbenkian and Museu Nacional do Azulejo will appeal to museum buffs. Get a sense of the local culture at Mosteiro dos Jeronimos and Castelo de S. Jorge. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Lisbon: Sintra (Castelo dos Mouros, Quinta da Regaleira, &more). There's still lots to do: make a trip to Belém Tower, enjoy the sand and surf at Costa de Caparica, choose your vessel at Nosso Tejo, and ponder the design of Rossio Square.
