Designated a World Heritage Site in 1995, Luang Prabang sits at the meeting point of two rivers and offers numerous opportunities for sailing, climbing, and exploring scenic caves and waterfalls.
Take a break from the city and head to Kuang Si Waterfall and Kuang Si Falls Butterfly Park. There's lots more to do: take in the awesome beauty at Mount Phousi, get engrossed in the history at Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre, see the interesting displays at Royal Palace Museum, and look for gifts at Kopnoi Export Promotion Center.

Resting at the meeting point of the Se Don and Mekong rivers, Pakse provides the ideal starting point from which to begin your discovery of southern Laos.
Step out of the city life by going to Bolaven Plateau and Tad Pha Suam Waterfall. Change things up with these side-trips from Pakse: Wat Phu (in Champasak Town), Si Phan Don (in Don Loppadi) and Bolaven Plateau Waterfalls (in Tad Lo). There's still lots to do: admire the sheer force of Tad Yuang Waterfalls and don't miss a visit to Chomphet Stone Sculpture Village and Temple Complex.
