Get outdoors at Old Man of Coniston and Predator Experience. Explore the numerous day-trip ideas around Kendal: Hodge Close Trail (in Coniston), Cathedral Quarry (Cathedral Cave) (in Little Langdale) and Haweswater Reservoir (in Burn Banks). There's lots more to do: explore the landscape on two wheels at Kentmere Horseshoe, explore the striking landscape at Jack"s Rake, putt your heart out at White Platts Recreation Ground, and explore the striking landscape of Lake District National Park Guided Walks.

Nestled on the western shore of Derwentwater, Portinscale serves as a perfect base for a walking holiday in the English Lake District.
Get outdoors at Alpacaly Ever After and Buttermere Lake. Explore Portinscale's surroundings by going to Stanley Ghyll Force Waterfall (in Eskdale), Angle Tarn (in Great Langdale) and Seascale (Bowfell & Seascale Beach). There's still lots to do: hike along Catbells Lakeland Walk, step into the grandiose world of Castle Crag, take your sightseeing to a higher altitude at Helvellyn, and identify plant and animal life at Sheffield Pike.

Traveling by car from Kendal to Portinscale takes an hour. In December in Portinscale, expect temperatures between 9°C during the day and 5°C at night. Finish up your sightseeing early on the 27th (Thu) so you can travel to Cirencester.
