Named after Lord Byron's grandfather, Byron Bay is not only famous as the easternmost point of Australia, but even more so as one of the liveliest vacation spots in the country.
Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Broken Head Beach and Lighthouse Beach. Bring the kids along to Wategos Beach and Broken Head Nature Reserve. Change things up with a short trip to Hastings Point Headland in Hastings Point (about 42 minutes away). There's still lots to do: trek along Cape Byron Walking Track, explore the activities along Lake Ainsworth, get your game on at Circus Arts Byron Bay, and view the masterpieces at Jules Hunt Studio Gallery.
