A truly contemporary city criss-crossed by history, Baku offers everything from the modern elegance of the Flame Towers to the medieval UNESCO-listed Old City at its core.
Baku Old City and Museum of Miniature Books are good opportunities to explore the local culture. Eschew the tourist crowds and head to Alley of Martyrs and Philharmonic Park. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Baku: Juma Mosque (in Shamakhi) and Gobustan State Reserve (in Gobustan).
