Inverness, often described as the Gateway to the Highlands, is a thriving commercial and industrial center.
Kick off your visit on the 4th (Sat): stroll around RZSS Highland Wildlife Park and then take in the history at Culloden Battlefield. On your second day here, hit the slopes at Cairngorm Mountain and then look for all kinds of wild species at Loch Garten Nature Reserve.

Gairloch is a village, civil parish and community on the shores of Loch Gairloch in Wester Ross, in the North-West Highlands of Scotland. Kick off your visit on the 6th (Mon): tour the pleasant surroundings at Red Point Beach, thenhead outdoors with Walking and Wildlife Adventures, and then admire the sheer force of Flowerdale Waterfall. Ullapool is a village of around 1,500 inhabitants in Ross-shire, Scottish Highlands. Change things up with these side-trips from Ullapool: Lochinver (Little Assynt Estate, Culag Woods, &more) and Falls of Kirkaig (in Inverkirkaig).
