The medieval town of Bruges centers around a canal, and the architecture of its historical district has made it a World Heritage Site.
You'll find plenty of places to visit near Bruges: Menin Gate Memorial (in Ieper (Ypres)) and Ghent (Saint Bavo's Cathedral, Gravensteen, & more). There's lots more to do: don't miss a visit to The Markt, take in the architecture and atmosphere at Church of Our Lady Bruges, examine the collection at Choco-Story - The Chocolate Museum, and steep yourself in history at Basilica of the Holy Blood.
