Aviemore is a town and tourist resort, situated within the Cairngorms National Park in the Highlands of Scotland. Glenfiddich Distillery and Fused and Light will appeal to museum buffs. Visiting Cairngorm Mountain and Loch Morlich will get you outdoors. Get out of town with these interesting Aviemore side-trips: Dalwhinnie Distillery (in Dalwhinnie) and Clan Macpherson Museum (in Newtonmore). There's much more to do: identify plant and animal life at Cairngorm Reindeer Centre, sample the fine beverages at Caorunn Gin Tour, and indulge your thirst for a good beer at Cairngorm Brewery.

Let the collections at Discovery Point and National Museum of Scotland capture your imagination. Get some historical perspective at Edinburgh Castle and Edinburgh Old Town. You'll find plenty of places to visit near Edinburgh: Rosslyn Chapel (in Roslin) and Falls of Clyde (in Lanark). There's still lots to do: brush up on your knowledge of spirits at Edinburgh Gin Distillery, don't miss a visit to The Real Mary King's Close, pause for some serene contemplation at St Margaret's Catholic Church, and steep yourself in history at Dean Village.
