  • Was a bit dubious after booking beginners lessons for my 7 & 9 year old and seeing some of the recent reviews. Sadie their instructor was brilliant and as promised she got both of them up and surfing by the end of the lesson. Great friendly instructor. Really recommend
  • Unsafe for young kids and generally poor. I'm sad to say i was very disappointed with these guys. Although saying they are set up for young children, as a parent i dont feel they are. The boys did their best to carry the boards down but kept dropping them and when they were led down a think rocky track i had to step in and take over as it was too dangerous for them if they lost their footing. The young lads were blissfully unaware. The lesson was 5 minutes on the beach then in the water. Both the boys (7 & 9) were lagging behind the rest of the group getting out so i eventually asked them to go back and get them. Meanwhile in my group, i too was having a hard time getting out, my instructor was happily with the bigger guys and finally had to come back to me when it was clear i needed help. At this point it was too late as i had made the call to join my 7 year old who had left to his own devices in the surf and noticed i had taken a knock to the forearm and a massive haematoma had risen. We decided to leave shortly after, asking my husband to tell the guys. When we returned to the base the young ladies had no cold compresses (and although lovely and genuinely concerned) limited knowledge it would appear of first aid/and more taken aback at the state of the injury not really knowing what to do, bless them. Thankfully the cafe had ice etc while i sat and waited for the lesson to end and make a call on getting an xray at hospital to see if it was fractured. My instructor made absolutley no effort to come and see if i or my son was ok which i find weird but perhaps that's the way they do it at the Croyde Surf Academy :) So, not suitable for younger kids as advertised i would say. A total lack of instruction (across the board) + knowledge of safety for youngsters or first aid....in our experience. Not worth the money. Sad, as i was really looking forward to it.
