A giant, slab-like cliff that is perhaps one of the most iconic images of Great Britain’s natural beauty, Beachy Head towers imposingly over the English Channel. The cliff has a sheer drop to the sea--at 162 m (531 ft), it is the highest chalk sea cliff in Britain. The view from the top can be quite dizzying and intimidating, yet also spectacular. Down below, a restaurant and summertime ice-cream trucks sit at Birling Gap. You can reach the clifftop by walking or cycling from the town of Eastbourne or taking an open-top bus tour. Parking is available if you drive, and the Peace Path provides wheelchair access. Trails also go down to the water. Be careful as you near the edge of the cliff as there's no restraining mechanism in place. Good walks and good views. See the lighthouse and visit the bomer command memorial. There is public toilet at the top.
This famous and historical area is full of stunning beauty from the aqua blue see to the emerald green grass with views mile out to sea. Come here to push your mother-in-law of the edge and enjoy freedom of the breeze in your hair. Look down upon the lighthouse and the blood stained rocks below...aah the memories.
