Arcola Theatre Reviews
Got tix for the above for my birthday. Great little theatre, and a really imaginative stage production of one of my favourite films. When you’ve only really been to big West End shows, it’s quite humb... more »
This was our visit and we enjoyed our visit. A contemporary style theatre to most in London but it worked well and provided a great atmosphere. Lots of bars & restraunts nearby to theatre to enjoy foo... more »
Rating a theatre, of course, heavily influenced by the production seen. I saw "The Daughter-in-law" by D. H. Lawrence. A very powerful play well performed in Nottingham dialect of 1912, including many phrases of such interest and fun that I bought the script. The Arcola puts on many fringe productions of interest and earns good reviews: keep an eye on future productions. Theatre was the Reeves paint factory from 1866, with addition 1913. Look outside and admire the architecture of this and neighboring buildings.
Friendly staff, good layouts and a generally nice vibe. Only a 3 star as the ceilings in bathrooms are exposed and the insulation is coming down and it’s been like that for a while now. It wouldn’t take much to make it secure. It’s unlikely it’s asbestos but all insulation poses respiratory risk as the fibres are very small and sharp. Would be nice to see that rectified and boost the stars to 5
