The largest performing arts center in Europe, Barbican Centre offers a wide range of theater, art, dance, film, and music events throughout the year. An important source of culture for Londoners, the center contains numerous venues, including the 2,000-capacity Barbican Hall, which hosts the London Symphony Orchestra, the 1,200-capacity Barbican Theatre, which the Royal Shakespeare Company designed and uses, the Barbican Art Gallery, a three-screen cinema, a library, and numerous restaurants, conference halls, and trade exhibition halls. The expansive facility can be challenging to navigate, so download a floorplan from its website before visiting. Make Barbican Centre a centerpiece of your London vacation itinerary, and find what else is worth visiting using our London attractions site .
Barbican Centre Reviews
I love this venue. Have seen exhibits here in the past but this trip - as is often the case - was to the Barbican Hall for music. It is an exceptional venue in appearance, comfort and acoustics. Didn’... more »
Attending the 2nd night of JCS at the excellent Barbican complex. So much space and colour and freedom to roam. You can't but feel totally at ease within, and the performance itself was so good. Havin... more »
Possibly my most favourite place in London. Love the atmosphere when going for a gig or just hanging around to do some remote work. When you book a concert make sure you get in early, get a quick buffet dinner in the canteen an then just sit in the lobby and wait for the show or go and browse the arts shop.
Took away points as I am a member of corporate membership with the Barbican and incompetent staff failed to honour all the terms and whilst ignorance is understandable for the staff member to lie is certainly is not, or to ignore the Barbican issued corporate membership card and the details written on it. Good place to hang out by the lakes especially when sunny and both the hall and theatre put on some good shows. Some of the exhibits outside that can be quite good, although some may have quite a queue like "Rain" or can be a trifle expensive. Conservatory, which is free is open Sundays and some bank holidays and certainly worth a visit. Nice to see the water birds there including a heron which is a regular visitor, maybe from Regents Park
