Brompton Cemetery, London

4.4
With ornate Victorian sculptures, sprawling trees, and well-maintained walking lanes, it can be easy to forget that Brompton Cemetery serves primarily as a burial ground. Part of London's Magnificent Seven--a group of cemeteries established in the mid-19th century to alleviate overcrowding on the grounds of city churches--this cemetery today is a recreational space under management of The Royal Parks. The garden scenery has earned the cemetery cameos in numerous films, and you're likely to encounter numerous locals enjoying it on a stroll or bike ride. To learn more about the cemetery's history, consider taking a Sunday-afternoon tour offered by The Friends of Brompton Cemetery, a local organization that helps maintain the 16 hectare (39 acre) grounds. • One of the Magnificent Seven. Brilliant Cemetery and park. It welcomes kids and grown up kids for a walk. There are some walking tours which are brilliant. It is a little heaven in the middle of the city madness. Nice coffee shop at the entrance. Next to West Brompton tube station or a 10 minute walk from Fulham Broadway District line station.
  • Wild and mysterious are two great words used to describe this place. It’s traditionally beautiful but also left to nature in parts. Has some mysterious tombs ( one of which an apparent time machine ). Great paths and well maintained where it needs to be with long grass in others. Good for wild life and a great place to come for a goth drink 😂 Peaceful and a good place to pick blackberries. And good to walk through as a short cut as well.
