Imperial War Museums helps visitors understand the British wartime experience by documenting the country's roles in World Wars I and II. Originally established in 1917 to memorialize British sacrifice in World War I, the museum expanded to record an even greater sacrifice a little over two decades later. Throughout the complex, you can view documents such as official orders, letters, diaries, and memoirs, as well as artwork including paintings, photographs, and sculptures. Listen to some of the 33,000 oral-history recordings and view over 350 vehicles and aircraft on display. World War I gallery exhibits a recreated trench. If the weather's agreeable, eat in the cafe, which opens out onto the Geraldine Mary Harmsworth Park. Our London trip planning site makes visiting Imperial War Museums and other London attractions simple, and helps you make a travel plan personal to you.

Walked in it was day light left and it was dark! Completely fascinating place and you lose track of time if you’re not careful as it’s so interesting. Not only moving displays and exhibitions but also... more »

Ať již jste milovníkem válečné historie, či nikoliv, toto muzeum rozhodně stojí za návštěvu. Propracovanost expozic a široké zapojení moderní techniky mě ohromilo. Expozice zaměřující se na první svět... more »
Whether you are a lover of war history or not, this museum is definitely worth a visit. I was amazed by the sophistication of the exposures and the widespread involvement of modern technology. The exhibition focused on The First World War and the events that led to it is the best I have seen on this subject. No wonder before The First World War, Britain was the world's empire - the largest the world has ever seen. And so the British are happy to return to this time. Even other exposures are worth it. For example, one that devotes itself to the Holocaust. I will also pick up the entrance free of charge (voluntary admission), lockers for things, beautiful and clean toilets, nice park in front of the museum, helpful staff.View original

I remember coming here as a child and wasn’t impressed but so glad I’ve come back as an adult! They have put so much effort into keeping it interactive and modern. Exhibits are brilliant, and I just loved this place. Great for adults and children and I think you should pop over and see what you think!

Time after time place to see my favourite topic War. Perfect place to spend afternoon or whole day if possible. Great deal of exhibition on all aspects of war and modern conflict. Classy experience on WW1 with one great fail: You will see nothing on Macedonian front, like there were nothing important ongoing into that corner of Great War. Guys you must correct this mistake!
