#21 of 419 in Shopping in London
Find a little foodie paradise at Maltby Street Market, a modest yet busy market offering stalls upon stalls of bread, cheese, meat, fruit, vegetables, cakes, and more. Don't miss the more popular sellers like Monty's Deli and St. John Bakery for delicious sandwiches and doughnuts. Tourists and locals alike favor this shopping street, so to avoid the crowds and long lines, do your browsing in the Ropewalk, a narrow alleyway between Maltby Street and Millstream Road that follows next to the railway bridge arches. When your feet get tired, head to the Kernel Brewery for a drink. • Lovely market, one of the many but with a very unique character. It feels tucked away and really busy, but in a friendly way. If you bump into someone you usually laugh and chat for a while, which doesn't happen that often in London. Great beer and gin places around too. We usually combine it with a visit to the White cube gallery.
  • The best food market in London. Adorable, fun and varied. The cheese toasties are a great example. Classic favourite subverted with delicious and surprising new ingredients. There's also always a place to sit and a great vibe. The bars are great in the eve too. Make sure you check out lassco at the end of the market for gorgeous vintage furniture and inspiration for your home.
