Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, in London, England, United Kingdom, is a sporting complex in Stratford. It was built for the 2012 Summer Olympics and the Paralympics, situated to the east of the city adjacent to the Stratford City development. It contains the athletes' Olympic Village and several of the sporting venues including the London Stadium and London Aquatics Centre, besides the London Olympics Media Centre.Put Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park on your schedule, and learn what else deserves a visit by using our London route maker website.
The park is overlooked by the ArcelorMittal Orbit, an observation tower and Britain's largest piece of public art. It was simply called Olympic Park during the Games but was later renamed to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II (though it is not an official Royal Park of London). The park occupies an area straddling four east London boroughs; Newham, Tower Hamlets, Hackney and Waltham Forest. Part of the park reopened in July 2013, while a large majority of the rest (including the Aquatics Centre, Velopark and Orbit observation tower) reopened in April 2014.

This place is amazing. The atmosphere is great, there's loads of open space, and it's a slice of history. Lots of new construction going up and this place is only going to get better and better over the next 20/30 years.
If you go to the park information cabin just before the aquatics centre on the main entrance to the park they can provide details of tours of the area conducted by volunteer guides. I found the history of the site before, during and after the London Olympics together with the ideas for planning the legacy very interesting and gave an insight into how the area is developing now.
